SMITHSONIAN ANNOUNCES $200 MILLIION DONATION FROM JEFF BEZOS
The Smithsonian National Air & Space Museum announced a $200 million donation from Jeff Bezos to support the renovation of the Museum in DC and launch a new education center at the Museum. Bezos’ gift is the largest donation ever given to the Smithsonian.
The Bezos Learning Center will be housed in a new facility to be constructed at the east end of our National Mall building, and will feature programs and activities that inspire students to pursue innovation and explore careers in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics) fields, as well as empower teachers to utilize the breadth of the Smithsonian’s collections.
The gift also includes a major contribution to the complete transformation of our galleries and public spaces. The funds will help ensure state-of-the-art technology infrastructure and new interactive experiences to inspire visitors, students, teachers, and families.
