LONESOME PINE AIRPORT WILL BEGIN RUNWAY PROJECT

The airport’s owner and operator, the Cumberlands Airport Commission recently announced that the Lonesome Pine Airport in Wise, VA will be able to repair part of its runway thanks to the CARES ACT grant.

The airport received a design grant from the Federal Aviation Administration for $655,000 that will help with this project. This project includes pavement rehabilitation, replacement and relocation of runway lighting, and the installation of a dedicated electrical vault.

“We are delighted that the Commission was able to secure a grant for this important project and appreciate the FAA’s continued support of the Lonesome Pine Airport,” says Commission chairman Donnie Rose.

Design is set to take place in early fall 2020, with construction tentatively set for 2021.
