Inaugural Amelia Earhart Lecture

Announcing the Inaugural Amelia Earhart Lecture in Aviation History

We are excited to announce our first Amelia Earhart Lecture in Aviation History. Amelia Earhart: Pioneering Feminist will take place on May 16 at 8 pm ET. Visitors are invited to attend in person at the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, Virginia, or tune in to the program live on YouTube.

More than eight decades after her disappearance, the fascination with Amelia Earhart shows no signs of abating. It is through the lens of women’s history, especially the field of feminist biography, that her life looks the richest and most compelling. Biographer Susan Ware will explore how a feminist interpretation of Amelia Earhart opens up previously unexplored connections between the life story of this unique individual and the broader patterns of twentieth-century women’s lives.

Registration is required for in-person attendance and encouraged for online viewing. Sign up now.

The Amelia Earhart Lecture in Aviation History is sponsored by Pratt & Whitney.
