LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) — A team of all-female pilots from Liberty University is taking to the skies to compete in the 46th Air Race Classic.
According to Liberty, the team competing is called the Liberty Belles.
The Air Race Classic will start in Grand Forks, North Dakota, and end in Homestead Florida; which is 2,685 miles long. The Air Classic will have nine different stops between the start and finish cities. According to race officials, 44 teams are competing for the chance to win this race.
Olivia Smith, a Certified Flight Instructor for the School of Aeronautics, said this race tests a pilot’s knowledge and skills.
