Greetings Fellow VAHS Members,
I hope this message finds you well and enjoying the arrival of spring weather.
I am happy to report that final planning and organizing for the VAHS Annual Membership Meeting on Saturday May 2 at Horsefeathers Airfield is proceeding on schedule. See event details in the attached flyer. Please come out and enjoy the event with your families and support the VAHS.
I am also pleased to inform you that we are making steady progress on our Hall of Fame and archives display projects. On March 27, we added a wall display of 8 Hall of Fame portraits at Stafford Airport. See 1st photo attached. There are now 12 portraits on display at Stafford and a total of 40 at Warrenton, Hanover and Stafford Airports and the Military Aviation Museum in Virginia Beach. The display (8 portraits) at Williamsburg Airport will be installed in May. Our goal is to have all 150 portraits on display by the end of next year.
Our first display of VAHS archive material was installed yesterday April 13 in the conference room at Stafford Airport. See 2nd, 3rd and 4th photos attached. The archive items are secured in dual lock, water resistant, UV light protected display cases. This is the first time to my knowledge that any VAHS archives have been displayed at a public location. Jim Stover, Stafford Airport Manager, has offered wall space in the pilots lounge for three additional display cases. Many thanks to Jim for allowing VAHS to display our HoF portraits and archives at the airport!
