Howdy All,
Below are events that will be coming up in June and throughout the summer. All VAHS Chapter members, family and friends are invited to attend as you may wish.
Women Can Fly Virginia– 4 June 2022, 0900-1600, a Women Can Fly Event will take place at Warrenton-Fauquier Airport, 1533 Iris Trail, Midland, VA 22728 (540-422-8285).
Currently, women represent only 7% of the total pilot population. Women Can Fly intends to improve upon this statistic by making an appeal to all future female pilots. Women Can Fly is co-sponsored by The Ninety-Nines, Inc. an International Organization of Women Pilots; the Virginia Department of Aviation; the Military Aviation Museum; and participating airports. Three events will be held in Virginia to include the following:

- Military Aviation Museum, 10 September 2022, contact Nicole Lutz at education@aviationmuseum.us
At each of these events there will be: Pre-flight briefings, Static displays of aircraft of various types, Meet and greets with women pilots, and Complimentary airplane rides.
For the Warrenton event the VAHS Warrenton/NOVA Chapter will be on hand with an information table and to relate tales from Virginia’s aviation history. All Chapter members are encouraged to attend, food will be available and those interested in volunteering to assist may contact sarah.patten@gmail.com

Warrenton-Fauquier Airport Town Hall Meeting – 25 June 2022, 0900-1400, will be held to update all interested in the near-term goings on and the plans for Warrenton Airport (KHWY). All VAHS Chapter members are encouraged to attend, food will be available, and the new Airport Director will be introduced by the retiring Director, Dave “Sparky” Darrah.
For this Warrenton event the VAHS Warrenton/NOVA Chapter will be on hand with an information table and to relate tales from Virginia’s aviation history. All Chapter members are encouraged to attend. Chapter volunteers for the VAHS table may contact fgwickersham@gmail.com
CAF Capital Wing Warbirds – 16-17 July 2022, 1000-1600, will return to Warrenton-Fauquier Airport, 1533 Iris Trail, Midland, VA (540-422-8285). This event was originally scheduled for May but was cancelled for particularly poor weather. Participating aircraft will include: a PT-17 Stearman, TBM Avenger, and Stinson L-5. Static displays, vendor food booths, etc. will be available each day. Best of all, rides in these World War II aircraft may be purchased!
