THE VIRGINIA AVIATION HALL OF FAME was created by the Virginia Aeronautical Historical Society with the two-fold purpose of honoring those Virginians who have made significant and lasting contributions to aviation while preserving their stories for future generations. Since 1978 The Virginia Aviation Hall of Fame has been an integral part of the VAHS mission and to date has recognized over 125 individuals from all areas of aviation including business, research and development, flight, maintenance, military service and government. Nominations are encouraged and are accepted by the VAHS office at any time. These nominations are carefully reviewed by a committee of VAHS members and the nominees meeting our acceptance criteria are presented to the full Board of Directors for final approval. Those selected are honored at our annual Virginia Aviation Hall of Fame reception and dinner in October or November. The highlight of this grand evening is a live narrated visual biography highlighting the inductee’s achievements and contributions.
When Hall of Fame committee Chairman Dave Young reached out to our Board of Directors and asked for financial help for this year’s event, he received help immediately.
SPECIAL THANKS to NNMP’s Nancy Miller for leading the group by generously giving her $1,000.00, with Don Serio and Dutch Rauch, following behind her, each giving $1,000.00. Board member Gary Allen called in his donation before the end of the day. Hall of Fame members John Corradi and Col. Floyd Callihan sent their donations in the next week and we received another generous $2,000.00 donation from Lynchburg Regional Air Shows. Dave Darrah reached out to Delta Airport Consultants’ Courtney Beamon and three days later, we received a $2,500.00 sponsorship check for the Hall of Fame Reception. We could not do it without you!
