The monthly luncheon for our Chapter is next week, Thursday June 16th , at our normal location, the Pilot House restaurant. Our social gathering will begin at 11:30 am, lunch and formal start will be at noon, and our program will begin when lunch is over.
Join us to hear author Ilona Duncan discuss her latest book, “Watch Me Take Off,” detailing the life and career of pilot Ian J. (Jim) Duncan. Released early in 2022, the book follows the remarkable life and 47-year aeronautical career of NN-MP VAHS Chapter member Jim Duncan, “…from his 1951 solo in a Piper J-3, to his 1988 final landing in a Pan American Boeing 747.” Although Jim Duncan died on August 24th, 2021, our Chapter is now afforded the rare opportunity to hear about the many adventures and extraordinary achievements in his life as a pilot; stories his modest nature limited sharing with a select few, until the celebrated release of this book.
All are encouraged to read the article in last week’s local newspaper (June 5th to June 11th) which outlines the great achievements and aviation history of Jim Duncan. His story reflects a great dedication and love of aviation, a true characteristic and foundation of the Virginia Aeronautical Historical Society.
We hope to see you on Thursday, June 16th, 2022.
