NNMP Chapter Presents Mike Kenna, Oct 19th

The Virginia Aeronautical Historical Society – VAHS Northern Neck-Middle Peninsula Chapter (NNMP) Presents: Mike Kenna, one of our own members! Top Secret – QU 22B – Igloo White Mission

Thursday, October 19th, 11:30 a.m. (third Thursdays) at the Pilot House Restaurant

Mike Kenna spent 30 years in the United States Air Force with over 4000 hours flying time! Most of his flying time was in C-141 and C-5 planes. Mike will tell us about his experiences flying with the QU 22B Mission to support the Igloo White Mission in the Vietnam War in the late 1960s.

This was Secretary of Defense Robert McNamera’s electronic line on the trail structure. It was a highly classified project! It was a new way to gather intel and monitor supply and troop traffic along the Ho Chi Minh Trail.

Try a web search on QU 22B – Igloo White Mission to get a taste of this incredible topic!

The Pilot House is adjacent to Hummel Field Airport on Route 3 in Topping, VA, about a mile south of the Norris Bridge over the Rappahannock River. Many will know this as the location of the famous annual Wings, Wheels, & Keels show for nearly 30 years.

Our presentations feature a wide variety of informative and exciting civilian and military aviation related programs. Many area residents and visiting guests share their amazing first-hand experiences of important events and history!

We have a short social time to mix and mingle first. At noon we get the great buffet lunch including beverage, soup, salad, veggies, main courses, and dessert.
