Dave Darrah’s Staying A Little Longer…
OK folks, we are the final countdown to my departure. But, hold your horses, I have been asked to extend until 1 August to allow some turnover with the new director once he has been identified. So, here is what is going on around here in the next few weeks.
First, the IAC East Coast aerobatic competition will take place this weekend here. Friday is a practice day with Saturday and Sunday the competition days. Should be a little noisy and busy around here. On Saturday, skydiving will not be going on and will resume at noon on Sunday. The competition is open to the public, but remember, this is not Sean Tucker or Michael Goullian out there ripping up the sky as this is a precision flying contest. If you come out to watch, bring your own refreshments and chairs to sit on.
Also on this Saturday from 1100-1400, Mike Girardi in Hangar 46, will have a little going away celebration in my honor. Hope to see you there. I will have the gate open during the event. Thanks Mike for this kindness. Is there a dunk tank for me to sit in? I hope not…I hate cold water.
Next Saturday, 25 June, will be our airport town hall. I hope to be able to introduce the new airport manager…we’ll see. It will go from 1000 – 1200 with a BBQ to follow put on by the Booster Club until 1400. This was intended to be the hail and farewell event so those who may not have been able to kick onto the street can do so at this event. I will have an agenda for you later. With the air conditioned hangar and other things going on, I think we should have a few things to talk about.
July 16 – 17 we will host the Warbird Showcase that was postponed form May due to wx. Unfortunately, Panchito will not be here but the TBM and other warbirds/L-Birds will be. A Fuji LM-1 will be on static display and this one is the only one in the world flying.
Stay safe, keep flying, and cheers,
Dave Darrah
