We spent an exciting noon hour on Friday, November 14th, watching the historic World War II, Douglas C-54- Skymaster, “Berlin Candy Bomber” takeoff from Shannon Airport

in Fredericksburg. It was at Shannon for their annual Harvest Festival, which is always held on the last Saturday of October. Hearing those reciprocating, Pratt & Whitney R- 2000, twin wasp engines go to full power for takeoff was priceless.

We, with over three hundred others, watched this amazing old girl lift effortlessly into the air.

Thank you, Luke Curtas and Shannon Airport, for sharing this experience.

Thank you to Glen Sullivan for this great video.
