Piper Aircraft Produces Face Shields for Hospital
Companies who normally produce a variety of products have been contributing to the fight against the coronavirus by using their manufacturing expertise to produce personal protective equipment for medical professionals.
The Piper Aircraft Company in Vero Beach, Florida joined this effort by beginning to produce face shields for medical personnel late in March. The face shield was prototyped using easily sourced materials and, once approved, a manufacturing line was setup within the Piper factory.
The Piper team was originally asked to make 1,300 face shields for the Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital but now is expected to produce and deliver more than 10,000 face shields initially and they have orders for many more provided that they can obtain additional materials from wholesale suppliers.
